I read this great story in less than one day...I did not want to put it down. I enjoyed visiting the whole Burnett family again and the conclusion of this Texas saga was wonderful. By the end of the story I really felt bonded with all the Burnett family members especially the youngest and newest. I hated to see the saga end....it was fantastic!!

The culmination of The Burnett Brides trilogy, THE MARSHAL TAKES A WIFE was a fun read. As any reader of related books, I enjoy watching the interaction of previous characters while concentrating on the current hero and heroine. Ms. McDaniel created a perfect vehicle for that experience. While Tucker's need to be free didn't have as much motivation as I would have liked, making him seem rather shallow at times, the overall quality of writing made me able to gloss over that distraction. As in the previous books, the boys' mother Eugenia Burnett is a joy. She is the perfect secondary character since her removal would have left the story a bit flat. I have enjoyed all three of Ms. McDaniel's books, and look forward to seeing more from her.

Sylvia McDaniel's delightful Burnett Brides series is an exciting trip back to the Wild, Wild West of love, and I, for one, am sad to see it come to an end. In this edition of the series, McDaniel brings the reader up to date on
the lives of the other Burnett brothers and their marriages. She also
includes an interesting side story regarding the Chinese population in Fort
Worth that lends a touch of intrigue to this fascinating story. So saddle up,
and get ready for a big time in Cowtown tonight! As they devour this series,
readers will soon come to realize why McDaniel is considered one of the
up-and-coming authors of western historical romance.
